Julie and Lira competed at the USPC Championships in Show Jumping at the Horse II level (3'-3'6"). Their team from the Middle California and Sierra Pacific Regions placed 1st overall out of twelve regular division teams. Julie and Lira recieved an equitation score of 80 in the third round and placed them seventh out of more than 45 riders. Fellow team member Kristy Stapleton of the Saratoga Pony Club and her horse Rast Mon recieved an equitation score of 89, the highest at the competition.

The Middle California/Inland Empire Modified Show Jumping team placed 5th overall out of 22 teams.

The Middle California Training Level Dressage Team placed 8th, while 2nd level dressage rider Rachel Dwyer of the Fresno Pony Club placed first overall, first in freestyle, and first in horse management with her horse Winston.

The Middle California Advanced Games team placed 10th.

Festival Events

The USPC Festival takes place every three years at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. It is three days of mounted and unmounted clinics for pony clubbers and parents with top level clinicians from around the country. Mounted sessions included Dressage clinics with USDF president George Williams, Crosscountry clinics on the Rolex event course, Polocrosse clinics, Foxhunting, Show Jumping, Natural Horsemanship and competitve trail riding. The dismounted activities included lessons on bandaging, horse nutrition, conditioning, parasites and everything in between. There was also a barn fair with booths concerning many popular horse topics.
